Feb 2016 Meeting

Welcome to the start of our new programme for 2016. I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and the New Year, and now you are all fired up and snap-happy for 2016.
Our first meeting will be Wednesday February 10th. at 7.00pm .

Important note – for this month only our meeting will start at the Yea Y Water Centre.

We will have a short presentation from Ron Litjens and then utilising the light evening, we will have a guided walk through the Wetlands. Ron is a well known wildlife photographer and will show us the best spots for photography.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAMERA, TRIPOD AND FLASH and a jacket in case the temperature drops.

Prior to the walk we will view and judge the entries to our monthly competition. Remember to bring your entry – this month the subject is ORANGE.

We may also have time to review the rules and judging of the competition.

To further whet your appetite for 2016, go to the "Calender 2016 pageof this blog" for  this year's programme and 'Capture an Idea' words.

Yea Carnivale 2016

A big thank you to all the members who helped assemble the display in the Good Shed,  manned the display and  submitted photographs.

The display was open for the opening of the Yea Carnivale on Friday night and then for the past weekend. We had many comments regarding the quality of the photographs and the variety of subject matter. The display is recognised as part of the Yea Carnivale Arts presentation and further cements the club's position as a significant member of the Yea Arts Community in the field of Photography.

For your interest, 227 people were recorded as having visited, with a surge on Sunday . Nearly 100 persons came through on Sunday and overall the display raised $249.
Congratulations to the winner of the People's Choice  - Michael Minter in a photo finish from Phil Glowacki. Well done and richly deserved.

First meeting for 2016 is on Wed 10th Feb at 7PM.

NOTE Venue is Y Water Centre for discussion and photo opportunity at the Wetlands.

Bring along your print for  Capture an Idea ...ORANGE.

We will hold the meeting at the Y Water Discovery Centre and Wetlands. Don't forget your camera,  tripod and flash if you have one. A jacket in case it gets cool would be a good idea. At this stage the weather is looking good.

January Exhibition

Can you please let John C have the names of all your photographic entries by the end of the week, please? That's Sunday 17th. This is for the catalogue.

The photographic exhibition as the name implies is not a competition. It is free to have an entry displayed and there is no prize money to be won, except for the most popular photograph. Entry is restricted to Yea Camera Club members, so this is an opportunity to compare your skills and talent with your club friends and colleagues. There are no special categories, but everyone must at least have a favourite photograph of their cat / dog/ horse / goat / cow / children / grandchildren / siblings / boat/ car / bike, even their wife / husband / lover / partner or companion!
In other words there is really no excuse for every club member to submit a photograph or 8! We can manage without the regulars, but this is a golden opportunity for new and aspiring photographers to display their ideas, and have fun in a warm friendly environment.
Please can we have your photos delivered to Kerry at the Yea Community Bank or Ann Anstey before Thursday 21st.

The Opening Night for the Carnivale is Friday 22nd. at 5.30pm in the railway complex.
To avoid any complications with that event, we shall put up our photographic display on THURSDAY 21st. at 5,00pm, and open our display at 5.00pm on the Friday. Please note the change of day in your diary.

Let John C know of your availability for the manning roster also please.

Please make every effort to come down on Thursday at 5pm to help put the display up. Many hands make light work!

Yea Carnivalle 2016

The camera club hopes that all its members enjoyed a terrific festive season with family and friends.

Now  - on your marks, ready steady, go !! – It’s Carnivale time.

The camera club will be holding a photographic display in the Goods Shed on Saturday and Sunday the 23rd/24th January.

We would appreciate help to put up the display on the Friday 22nd. starting about 5.00pm. Please indicate if you are free to help.

Likewise, we need volunteers to man the stand on the saturday and sunday, between 10.00am and 4.00pm in 2hr. shifts. Again please let John C know if you are willing to help and your preferred timeslot.

To be successful, we need about 80 photos. All members are encouraged to display their work. In past years, contributors have sent in 8 – 10 photos each, but the more contributors we have, the less each has to enter. It spreads the load and encourages new photos.

If you are contributing, please send in the titles of your photos as soon as possible so that we can prepare a catalogue.
